Another day of lounging around and spoiling the kids, but we had big plans for the night - tickets to Cirque de Soleil’s Mystere. The show was fabulous – thanks Marisa for recommending it! I’ll describe it later. But first - I had been dying to see the free show in front of Treasure Island called Sirens, so we left the house at 7:50 to get there on time for the 8:30 show. We got there right at 8:30, and the entrance to the show from inside the hotel was blocked, so we walked around outside. It was so packed, there was no way that Bradley would have been able to see anything. So we walked back inside to pick up the Mystere tickets, and I asked the lady at the entrance what time the next Sirens show was and she said 10:00. I asked her if we could see the Sirens show and still have time to make it to Mystere, and she said yes, and that she would let us back in that entrance since we had the tickets, but we needed to be there 40 minutes ahead of time.
Since we had time to kill we walked across the bridge to the Venetian so Mimi could see the inside of it. It is really fabulous, and it reminded Mimi of her trip to Italy. It was fun walking around, but we didn’t have much time because we had to get back to Treasure Island.
We got back in the good entrance from inside the hotel, and the place was already packed! Mimi got in line for a margarita (she’s such a party animal!) and I found out from the security guard that since we had Mystere tickets we got to go to the VIP section – right in front of the show! My pictures didn’t turn out so great but the show was really cool! The sirens danced around on the ship in front of us, and taunted the pirates on the ship behind us. The ship behind us wound up sinking, and we didn’t know it but the pirates were swimming under the bridge that we were on, and then they climbed up the side of the ship with the sirens. Of course they eventually jumped into the water, and some of them did some really cool dives! In one picture you can see the flames coming out of the ship – it was so unbelievably hot!
After Sirens it was on to Mystere – what a cool show! The athletes in the show are so unbelievable! We were sitting on the third row so it felt like we were interacting with the characters. It’s too hard to describe with words everything that went on, but one of the most amazing things was the two strong men. They had tons of muscles and one of them was holding the other one up. Picture this – the guy on the bottom is laying on the floor on his back, knees drawn to chest. The other guy does a handstand, holding on to the bottom guy’s feet and stays in that position. The bottom guy then contorts his body around to where he’s now on his stomach, still holding the other guy on his feet with legs bent at the knee. Then he slowly lowers the guy down to the ground. We are not believing what we are seeing, when all of a sudden, he starts lifting the guy back up. Talk about strong calves!
Another cool part was when the red bird character came and perched right in front of us. The lady on the front row had a program, and he pointed to it and she handed it to him. Then he covered his face with it, and slowly started lowering it – he looked just like the picture on the program! You can see the picture of him on the Mystere sign below. There are so many other cool parts, but the last one I’ll tell you about is towards the end. One of the green birds was getting back to the stage, walking down the row in front of us. She was in character so her head was bopping around like a bird, and when she saw Bradley and his fauxhawk she shrieked backwards! Bradley loved it!
I’m always impressed by the people in Cirque de Soleil. They are in such good shape!

This show is awesome. We saw it the last time we were there. Ani was 2. She loved it, especially the man dressed as a baby. At one point he was up on the high platform and his bottle hit him on the head. Then they turned the lights off and you didn't see him anymore. Ani was so upset the baby was hurt. She kept yelling for the baby. Finally, he came back out on stage and she was happy. So was everone else around us!
Susie always wanted to see one of these sows.
