I took Bradley to his new school to meet his teacher, and waited for Mimi to call. Turns out she left her cell phone in Baton Rouge, so she finally called from a pay phone. I tell her to go the Starbucks in the middle of baggage claim (this is a really huge airport) and go straight out the door and wait. When I drive up to the terminal I realize that there are TWO roads, and the closest one is for taxis only, so I have to park and go get her. I didn’t even put Ella in the stroller because I thought I would walk over and get her and be done with it. She’s nowhere to be found, and doesn’t have a cell phone. So me, Bradley and Ella walk all around baggage claim and can’t find her anywhere. It’s Friday, so there’s probably about 50,000 people landing at that time. I walk all the way back to the car to get the stroller and my cell phone, and she finally calls back. Turns out there are three different ways to walk straight out from Starbucks! What did people do without cell phones?
We headed to the Hard Rock CafĂ© for the Tuscan chicken salad (the wait staff is starting to think I’m a stalker by now!) and then we drive around the strip and out to the building I will be working in. After that we headed home and lounged around for the rest of the day. Ella figured out in a bout 3.2 minutes that she could get Mimi to do just about anything! It will probably take us a month to get her straightened out after all that spoiling! But I guess that’s what grandparents are for.
