Tell you where you got those shoes....

City and State.....

So this past Friday I had to go to LensCrafters in the mall to get a new pair of glasses. Mind you, I have never liked going to the mall....I was never one of those kids that hung out at the mall, I've never liked shopping for clothes all that much, etc. The salesman at LensCrafters was really helpful and I ordered my glasses and headed out into the mall, thinking what the heck am I going to do for an entire hour here? Luckily right off the bat a market research person asked me if I had time to watch a commercial movie preview, which I happily agreed to do. Turns out the only age group she had left was 28-34, and she couldn't believe I was 42. Naturally I had no problem agreeing to be 34, if only for a few minutes ;) . That took all of about 10 minutes, so I had 50 minutes left. I start heading through the mall, a lone person with obviously no clear intended path. I was ripe for the picking. As I passed kiosk after kiosk, I was asked, "Mam, can I show you something?" over and over again, with progressively more ardor. A simple "no thanks" is no longer sufficient, it only leads to "Really, I just need to ask you one question!". It got so bad at one point that I had to call Rick's cell phone and leave a really long message, walking as far away from the kiosks as possible. I was reminded of the pre-pubescents on Bourbon Street just trying to make a buck...."Tell you where you got those shoes.....City and State....."

And so my non-love affair with the mall continues.
