My first hero

As it is with most little girls, my Dad was my very first hero. He taught me some of the most important lessons of my life, like how to laugh at myself. Granted, that lesson was often accompanied by some sort of humiliation, like Lucy picking the ball up right before Charlie Brown kicked it. I can’t tell you how many times he talked me into that one! He raised us to have complete and utter respect for God and country, to take responsibility for our own actions, to live a life of integrity, and to expect the same from those around us. Growing up we spent every 4th of July at our camp on Toledo Bend hearing stories of great American heroes and listening to John Phillip Sousa (and there may have been a round or two of poker….). For these reasons (and many more, like the fact that he has actually been on active duty during war time, unlike many other pundits), I respect his opinion. When I spoke to him the other day, he said the presidential race was working out great because the three front runners, Obama, Clinton, and McCain, are all on Rush Limbaugh’s hate list, so whoever wins it will be a victory! Did I mention he also has an awesome sense of humor?
I say all this because my Dad sent me an email today and attached a letter he wrote to the Editor of the Baton Rouge paper. He did his research, then formed an opinion, then took action by writing the letter. He thinks it is unlikely to be published in the Baton Rouge paper, but I will publish it here with pride, for all six of my readers to enjoy ;)

Mr. Editor,
Thanks for excellent coverage of this “Ethics” session, and particularly, your journalist, Michelle Milhollon, who questioned Governor Jindal’s saying business would not relocate or come here until we cleaned up our corrupt state. The governor quoted a study by LSU and some Corporate Crime Reporter statistic, which rated Louisiana as the most corrupt state in the Nation.
Well, I carefully read both reports and the statistics from the US Department of Justice, Public Integrity Section annual report. I quote from the LSU study, “The overwhelming finding emerges is the importance of workforce issues in location decisions” and corruption, ‘the substantive interpretation is that it is important but UNLIKELY(my emphasis) to emerge as the driving factor in relocation decisions.”
I encourage anyone to look at the Corporate Crime Reporter.com and see other “enlightening “ comments, keeping in mind our Governor keeps repeating this absolutely bogus statistic, and the Transition Team did not even question it, and repeats it.
I do not have to question Brilliant Bobby about his statistics, and the use of the word “perception”, but now with his continued misapplication of both, I clearly understand his ethics in this test of his new power to make Louisiana the reddest state.
I am so inspired, I will donate $3.00 to his 527 (front for K Street) political action group, for each business or corporation who relocates to Louisiana and signs an affidavit that they did so based upon legislation pushed in this “ethics” section.
