These ribbons and hardware are from a 12-year old and under swim meet that Bradley participated in at UNLV. The ribbons are for the 8 and under category even though he swam with the older kids. Ok, he was the only 8 year old, but it doesn't take away from the fact that he got the ribbons!! Or the fact that his coach believes in him enough to have him swim at these meets.
Here are his events and times:
50 meter back: 55.08
50 meter fly: 57.15
50 meter breast: 1:11.32 (for some reason he got two ribbons for this one)
200 meter IM: 4:09.28
200 meter free: 3:43.58
And the hardware was for the 50 meter freestyle - 43.19 seconds, which places him in the blue plus category, and allows him to swim in special meets (I think that is how Rick explained it).
I'm really proud of him, and I try to tell him all the time that I am proud of him because of his hard work, and that he is doing something he loves, and I would be just as proud if he came in 14th. Of course, he has Rick's competitive nature, so he's more proud of the wins. At least Rick finally has him focused on beating his own times instead of winning heats.
Check out a few seconds of him swimming at the Whitney Ranch meet the weekend before:
