Mimi's Visit Day Four

A trip to the Hoover Dam – probably our last one for a while. I still love going out there and I’m still amazed. This time we got to see Rick’s new office that he will be moving into soon! Check out this little tour guide in training!

A view from the top.

Mimi and the kids got their picture taken while we were waiting on Rick – isn’t it a great picture?!?!?

Checking out the inside of the dam and feeding the fish – last week it was goldfish, but today they got cheerios. Don’t tell any environmentalists that I did that!

This was something we had never done before – this building has an exact copy on the other side of the canyon and we were standing next to it! It was a little different view of the dam, and we got to see a cool spiral staircase next to the elevator. I guess back in the day the workers only had the staircases to go up and down.

When we got home from the dam I told Ella it was time for naptime, and she promptly crawled in bed with Mimi, asked for a magazine, and was reading it before I knew what had happened! She’s so funny! One other funny thing – Mimi was getting Ella to put some dirty clothes in the laundry room, and we were in the living room, and we heard Ella say to herself “Good Girl!”

Later that night we had reservations at the Top of the World restaurant at the top of the Stratosphere. It’s a really cool restaurant with a fabulous view of the valley and it took about an hour and 15 minutes to make an entire revolution. At one point we could see one of the rides on top of the Stratosphere hanging over the edge! The dinner was fabulous and so were the desserts! We really had an excellent time. At one point Mimi let Ella stand beside her chair, next to the stationary part of the restaurant, which is about 18 inches wide, and on the other side of that are the big glass windows. Well, let me tell you, Bradley and Rick did not like that at all! Bradley was trying to get Mimi to pick Ella up, and he kept saying that it made his stomach hurt to see her so close to the windows. Then we look at Rick, and his forehead was beaded up with sweat! I laughed so hard I thought I was going to pee in my pants! I still don’t get it – Ella was only about 6 inches closer to the window at that point than when she was on Mimi’s lap. I was tempted to get up and go lay on the window to see what kind of reaction I could get from them! The pictures came out with the people’s faces lit up and you can’t see the view behind, and the video came out the opposite. Go figure!

After dinner we drove down the strip again and checked out the people. I wonder how many are actually in Vegas on a Saturday night?
